Vision and Values

The PLC exists to support every Hartnell instructor in doing their best work for students. We connect professional learning directly to Hartnell’s strategic plan and to our Achieving the Dream equity goals — because stronger teaching is one of the most direct ways we close opportunity gaps.

Our approach is faculty- and staff-driven, flexible, and accessible: learning that fits real schedules, meets people where they are, and is open to all employees, full-time and part-time alike.

Our Goals

Student Success

PD that directly supports student achievement.

Equity-Minded Practices

Culturally responsive, inclusive pedagogy across the curriculum.

PD Access

Flexible, multi-format opportunities for all faculty and staff.

Online & DE Support

Canvas, RSI, POCR, and distance-education compliance.

How We Got Here

The PLC grew out of Hartnell’s participation in the Achieving the Dream seminar series and a clear signal from faculty themselves. Our Spring 2026 Faculty Needs Assessment drew 235 responses, with the strongest demand in Canvas and online teaching, AI in teaching, student engagement, and equity-minded practices.
